Different programs are conducted on the occasion of World Environment Day. World Environment Day (WED) is observed every year on June 5 since 1973 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature. In the same way in Butwal to make people aware to protect nature rally was held.
The rally was organized by Safe Journey Campaign Nepal, and co-organized by Cycle Interpretation, Rupandehi Cycling Association as well as with the help of Automobile Association (NASA). The Rally started from Traffic Chowk at 7 in the morning and windup at Yogikuti.
At the end of the program General Secretary of NASA, Govinda Bhattrai told that the use of cycle will help in environmental, economic and health aspect. He also told that the air pollution due to the use of motorized vehicle carries significant risks for human health and the environment. And thus to decrease this the use of cycle is one of the important means of transport.
The chairman of Safe Journey Campaign Nepal Mr. Narayan Adhikari, he said that the rally was held to provide the positive awareness to people regarding Cycling that it offers a reduced consumption of fossil fuels, less air or noise pollution, and much reduced traffic congestion which lead to less financial cost to the user as well as to society at large (negligible damage to roads, less road area required).
General Secretary Mr. Dinesh Pandey of Safe Journey Campaign Nepal said not only cycling helps to decrease the pollution of the environment but also it helps to decrease the number of road accident. He requested to the government to build the special road for the use of cycle riders.
Mr. Daya Bhandari Chairman of Cycle Association, Nepal he even told that to develop positive thought to people regarding the use of cycle this type of program is conducted. The program was windup by the help of Mr. Nagendra Acharya chairman of Cycle Association, Rupandehi. Cycle was given to the Safe Journey Campaign, Nepal as appreciation.
